WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR PORTRAIT SESSION BOOKING A SESSION: As soon as you are interested in booking a session, shoot me an email and we will discuss all the specifics of what you are looking for from your photo session! I just require a non-refundable $50 retainer to reserve a date! So now you've booked a session and are ready to shoot....now what? First up, DON'T STRESS =) In my opinion, a photography session should be a fun experience..... So get ready to laugh, snuggle up, and have fun! What to Wear for Your Portrait Photography Session New clients sometimes ask what should I wear to our session? I usually suggest wearing something that makes you feel good, fits well and is timeless; casual-dressy and most of all comfortable! It doesn’t have to be always the matching tops and bottoms for groups unless it is the look you are going for. Families and Engagement sessions, make sure your colors complement each other. Stay away from busy patterns. Be prepared to put your hair up and make it look nice in case of a windy day. Bring bobby pins, hair clips, headbands or any other favorite accessories are all great options! The Best Location for Your Session Parks, Wooded areas, and Urban settings provide amazing backgrounds, when picking a location, make sure it’s a place that reflects your personalities or has a special meaning. I'm happy to make recommendations as well! STUDIO SESSIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR BABIES, CHILDREN, MATERNITY & SMALL FAMILY SESSIONS . Professional headshots are also available. Besides the occasional ladder, crate or quilt I don't typically use a lot of props for on location sessions but I do like to personalize my sessions by asking clients to bring something that would make sense to have in your photo with the person/people being photographed. If this is a child/family, I suggest bringing their favorite lovey or stuffed animal or their favorite book. I often take a “break” in posing to incorporate these during a moment of play or reading and these are often some of our favorite shots. For couples, I find that its fun to incorporate something that they have in common or that they might do together. Reading books, playing scrabble, having a picnic, taking a walk, are just some examples. Seniors are more used to this and will often come with something that they feel represents their interests at that time. If you play music, bring your guitar. If you draw, bring a sketch book with some of your work and a pencil. If you participate in anything in school that you wear a uniform for, you may want to wear it for a small portion of your senior session. Maternity sessions can be fun because parents will often bring a small pair of shoes or some blocks or something that they are saving for the sweet baby who’s arrival they are awaiting. I do have a no sick kids policy If you or your child(ren) are sick on the day of your session i will not go ahead with your session and a $50 rescheduling fee may apply. *If you call/text/email prior to your session to let me know you need to reschedule there is no rescheduling fee. If you do not and i drive to the studio or location there is a rescheduling fee of $50. Because i work with small babies I cannot work if i get sick. This causes significant inconvenience to my other clients and financial loss. So if you find your little one(s) is sick in the week leading up to the session please let me know so we can reschedule, even if it's last minute. They really need to be well to get good photos and that's what we all want =) If we need to reschedule due to weather i will make that call as soon as possible, within at least a few hours of your session time if possible at the latest. There is no rescheduling fee if i make this call due to inclement weather. If you would like to reschedule due to weather a rescheduling fee may apply if i find the weather acceptable. I do not reschedule for clouds/overcast skies unless it is super gloomy. CAKE SMASH TIPS & TRICKS
Reminder- I do have a no sick kids policy. If your child is sick on the day i will not go ahead with your session and a $50 rescheduling fee may apply. *If you call/text/email prior to your session to let me know you need to reschedule there is no rescheduling fee. If you do not and i drive to the studio or location there is a rescheduling fee of $50. If you could, please also refrain from scheduling vaccinations for the week before cake smash sessions as that can make them feel a bit unwell. Before the session it's quite helpful if you have given bub something like a bit of cake / icing prior to smash sessions. Also letting bub play with something squishy like finger paint or very soft play dough prior to their session is great, especially for paint sessions! Make sure you're wearing something that you don't mind getting dirty as you will likely get some icing on you. It's a good idea to leave older siblings at home during cake smash/milestone sessions to minimize distractions when possible unless they are old enough to help get smiles or are participating in the session as well. If bub has some favorite songs, please pop those on your phone and feel free to bring along anything you think will help get some smiles =) Bringing along some dry snacks can be helpful in case we need to fake it a bit! Cheerios, puffs, etc. all work great! Be sure to bring along extra towels/baby wipes to clean up with and extra clothes to go home in!
